Getting the app and setting up the goggles
Welcome! If you’re here, this means you either have the goggles and want some guidance on getting set up for your first swim, or you’re curious about the process but don’t yet have the goggles.
Getting the goggles and setting up the app can feel daunting at first - there’s a lot of super cool features and it can be hard to know what to expect and where to start. Not to worry, the app will guide you through one step at a time. Below, we will mirror the in-app experience so that you can follow along and see more information if you need to.
Step 1: getting the goggles
This step is pretty easy! You can purchase the Smart Swim 1 or Smart Swim 2 on our site or at any of our dealers’ locations. You can see our dealers here.
Step 2: getting the app
The FORM Swim App is available on:
To find the app, go to the app store on your mobile device and search for "FORM Swim". Install the app and open it.
To check for updates, go to the app store on your mobile device and search for "FORM Swim." If an update is available, select "update."
Step 3: setting up your account and profile
Now, you can set up your account. You can choose to sign in with Google, Facebook, Apple or your email address. You’ll also be able to select if you consent to receiving promotional emails from FORM in the future in this step.
Note: remember which method you selected in case you get logged out of the app in future. Accidentally choosing a different sign in method may mean that you lose access to your swim history and subscription.
Next, you will set up your profile. The information requested is required to use our app: the biometric data (e.g. age, gender, height, and weight) is used in the calorie calculation, as well as for calculating FORM score, and remains private at all times.
When you create your account for the first time, you will receive an email to the address you registered for verification purposes. If you do not verify your email, you will not be able to access the full functionality of the app. Simply click the link in the email you received to confirm your email address. Check your spam folder if you can’t find it!
Step 4: connecting with other platforms
The next step will be to connect your other platforms to the FORM app.
Sync your swims to and import* workouts from:
- TrainingPeaks
- Tridot
Sync your swims to:
- Final Surge
- Apple Health
*Premium Feature
Doing so now will mean that your first swim will sync across successfully. Setting up the connection after you have done your first swim will mean that that swim doesn’t get synced across.
A note on Garmin: Garmin integration is slightly different from the other platforms and you can see more information here.
Step 5: pairing & activating your goggles
Now you are ready to pair your goggles to the app. It’s important to pair the goggles with the FORM app and not your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
For this, you will need to have the goggles turned on, nearby, and with at least 20% battery level. Your goggles come pre-charged so they should be good to go. You will also need to enable Bluetooth location sharing if prompted within the app. If you have paired the goggles with your phone’s Bluetooth settings, you can remove the connection first and restart the pairing through the FORM app.
The diagram in the app will show you which button to press on the goggles. Look into the goggles’ display to see your goggles’ name and tap the corresponding name in the app screen.
If you are an eligible new user, your goggles come with a free trial of Premium Features. You will be invited to unlock this at this point. Once you have entered your details, the trial will be activated and you will be able to continue in the process.
Once you have paired the goggles, and they have finished an initial software update you will see an in-goggle tutorial for the buttons. The front button selects, and the rear button navigates in a menu.
Next, you will see the Fit Guide for your goggles. Fit is super important for comfort and ensuring a leak-free swim so taking the time now to dial this in will mean that your first swim is a success!
