Introduction to Drills
Drills are lengths of swimming where you are swimming either a modified version of one of the strokes, or you are doing a specific exercise designed to work on one aspect of your swim technique.
You can read more about why drills are important to incorporate into your swim training here: How Swimming Drills Help You Get Faster, Stronger, and More Efficient.
With FORM, you can access drills in a couple of ways:
-
In Free Swim, you can access Drills Mode, which allows you to record your drills as part of your workout. In this instance, you choose which drill you do and when.
To record drills, press the front button during your swim then navigate to Drills using the rear button. Press front and start swimming your drills. Once you're done, press the front button and navigate to Exit Drills. You can then modify the distance if needed, and resume the rest of your swim.
-
In a workout, drills can be added to the workout in the app so that the type of drill is specified, as well as any recommended equipment. If you are creating the workout in Workout Builder, you can add a subset of drills and either choose from the predefined drills types, or add a custom drill. If you are swimming a workout made by HeadCoach™, you can see the drill in the workout's description in the app.
Once you are swimming, you'll be notified of the upcoming drill in the goggles so that you can prepare yourself and any necessary equipment.
