Lesson 5: Choosing your dashboards and metrics
About metrics and dashboards
Setting up the goggles to display the metrics you want to see at the times you want to see them will ensure that you are getting the most out of each training session.
In the app, you can configure the metrics you want to see and then sync your goggles to the app so that your changes take effect for your next swim.
The metrics you can choose from (e.g. stroke rate, distance etc) depend on where you are swimming (Pool, Open Water or Swim Spa) and which other device you have connected (if any).
While swimming, the goggles display up to three different screens depending on what is being detected at that time. The three screens are:
-
Swim
- This screen is displayed while you are actively swimming. For this screen, you can choose one of two time options as your top metric (in the pool and open water) and up to three metrics as your bottom metric.
-
Turn (only available in the pool)
- This screen is displayed when a turn or end of length is detected. You can configure how long this screen is shown for when setting your metrics for this screen.
- For this screen, you can choose one top metric, and one bottom metric.
-
Rest (not available in open water)
- This screen is shown when resting is detected and disappears when you start swimming again.
- For this screen, you can choose one of three time options as your top metric and up to three metrics as your bottom metric.
- If you are swimming intervals, you can also choose to display the amount of time it took you to complete that interval on this screen.
Example swim screen
There are four types of dashboards (pool, open water, open water with GPS and swim spa), as explained below:
Pool Dashboards
In the app, you can set up to five named dashboards with individually configured metrics. Then, once you have them synced to your goggles, you can switch between the dashboards during your swim.
TIP: We provide four preset dashboards for you: lap, interval, technique and pace. You can use them as they are, edit them, or remove them completely if you prefer!
Setting your pool dashboards
- Navigate to the my goggles tab of the app
- Select ‘Dashboards’
- Choose ‘Pool Swim’
- Select one of the existing dashboards to edit or select ‘Add a new dashboard’ to create a new one from scratch
- You will now see three panels, relating to the three swim screens shown during a pool swim. Select the screen you wish to edit.
- At the top of the page, you will see a preview of the screen that you will see in your goggles.
- Tap the pencil icon next to the top or bottom metric to edit that metric. For the swim and rest screens, you can add up to three bottom metrics using the ‘Add a metric’ option at the bottom of the page.
- If you have multiple bottom metrics, you can reorder them by tapping and dragging them into the desired order.
- Once you are done, press the back arrow in the top left corner of the page to go back to the Screens view.
- To rename your dashboard, navigate to the main Dashboards page for Pool Swim and tap the pencil in the top right corner. This allows you to change the name or delete a dashboard.
- Once you have set the screens, don’t forget to sync your goggles so that the changes take effect!
Note: The real time stroke rate metric in the pool swim dashboard is only compatible with freestyle swimming stroke.
TIP: You can choose to turn off the swim and/or turn screen by toggling off the screen visibility when modifying that screen. Although the display will be blank, your metrics will still be tracked during the swim, as normal!
Switching between dashboards in the pool
When you are starting your swim or when you are at rest, you can easily check and switch dashboards by pressing the rear button. The first press brings up the dashboard menu and you will see which dashboard is active. If you want to switch to a different dashboard, press the rear button again to rotate through the options then the front button to select your desired dashboard.
Open Water (with and without GPS)
This is the dashboard for open water swimming with the goggles on their own or with the goggles connected to a smartwatch. The top metric is fixed to the timer, and up to three configurable metrics on the bottom.
Setting Your Open Water Dashboard
- Navigate to the my goggles tab of the app
- Select ‘Dashboards’
- Choose either ‘Open Water’ or ‘Open Water with GPS’
- There is only one screen for open water swims. Tap the pencil icon next to the bottom metric to edit that metric. You can add up to three bottom metrics using the ‘Add a metric’ option at the bottom of the page.
- If you have multiple bottom metrics, you can reorder them by tapping and dragging them into the desired order.
- Once you are done, press the back arrow in the top left corner of the page to go back to the Dashboards view.
- Don’t forget to sync your goggles so that the changes take effect!
Swim spa
There are two options here: our partner swim spas or other swim spas. If you select the partner swim spas option, you will be asked to select your compatible swim spa make and model. This will allow access to the distance metrics in the dashboard. If you select the other swim spas option, you will not be able to choose distance metrics. Both options allow you to choose up to three bottom metrics for both the swim and rest screens.
Setting Your Swim Spa Dashboard
- Navigate to the my goggles tab of the app
- Select ‘Dashboards’
- Select ‘Partner Swim Spas’ if you have a compatible model. Select “Other Swim Spas’ if you do not have a compatible model or are doing tethered swimming.
- You will now see two panels, relating to the two swim screens shown during a swim spa swim. Select the screen you wish to edit.
- At the top of the page, you will see a preview of the screen that you will see in your goggles.
- Tap the pencil icon next to the top or bottom metric to edit that metric. You can add up to three bottom metrics using the ‘Add a metric’ option at the bottom of the page.
- If you have multiple bottom metrics, you can reorder them by tapping and dragging them into the desired order.
- Once you are done, press the back arrow in the top left corner of the page to go back to the Screens view.
- Once you have set the screens, don’t forget to sync your goggles so that the changes take effect!
TIP: You can choose to turn off the swim screen by toggling off the screen visibility when modifying that screen. Although the display will be blank, your metrics will still be tracked during the swim, as normal!
